Sam Altman compares AI energy to human training

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman defended artificial intelligence resource usage at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, India, which began on February 19, 2026. He called concerns about data centers' water use "fake" and argued that training a human takes "20 years of life, and all the food you eat" for them to get smart. Altman stated that AI models already trained are probably more energy-efficient than humans for answering questions.
