Britain's oldest cave art found in Wales

Britain's oldest known artwork, a series of red stripes, has been confirmed in a Welsh cave, rewriting our understanding of early human life. Archaeologists employed advanced scientific techniques to determine that the markings within Gower's Bacon Hole cave date back at least 17,100 years. The 10 horizontal red stripes were first found in 1912 but later dismissed as natural.
