South Korea bets over $1tn on chips and AI

It's one of the largest industrial bets ever, a push to lock up the memory chips that power the global AI boom. President Lee Jae-myung said on Monday that Samsung and SK Hynix will lead the plan, building new chip plants in the country's south-west. Much of the money is private, and the government cast it as a race to beat China, Japan and Taiwan.
