UK Launches Northern Navies Alliance to Counter Russian Threat
First Sea Lord General Sir Gwyn Jenkins has announced plans for a new Northern Navies multinational maritime force to bolster defences against Russia, building on the 2014-established Joint Expeditionary Force. He confirmed Russian incursions into UK waters have grown by almost a third in two years, and aims to have a formal declaration signed by allied nations before the end of 2026.
