Cisco Unveils Project CodeGuard to Secure AI-Generated Code

Cisco Systems has open-sourced Project CodeGuard, a model-agnostic security framework designed to integrate secure-by-default rules into AI-coding workflows before, during and after code generation. The initial version (v1.0.0) includes a core rule set based on guidance from OWASP and MITRE’s CWE, translators for major AI agents, and documentation inviting community contributions. Cisco emphasizes it is a defense-in-depth layer—not a full guarantee of secure output.
