OpenAI launches smarter image model to rival Google

Anyone who spends hours wrestling with AI image prompts just got a serious upgrade. OpenAI today released ChatGPT Images 2.0, which thinks before generating, can search the web for references, check its own outputs for errors, and produce up to eight images at once at 2K resolution. Sam Altman compared the jump to going from GPT-3 to GPT-5, and says the model tops Arena AI's leaderboard above Google's Nano Banana 2.
