US unleashes 172M barrels to tame soaring gas prices
Rising gas prices mean Americans are feeling the pinch as costs have recently surged. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated this release aims to reduce oil prices, which soared due to supply shocks from the US-Israeli war with Iran. It follows a 400m barrel agreement with the 32-country International Energy Agency. Nationally, gas prices jumped from an average of $2.94 per gallon a month ago to $3.58 by Wednesday, according to AAA.
