IBM claims a world-first chip below one nanometre
It pushes past a barrier the industry feared hitting, and could mean faster, greener AI chips, though it's still a lab demo. IBM said on Thursday its 0.7-nanometre 'nanostack' design packs nearly 100 billion transistors onto a fingernail-sized chip, roughly double its previous best. The label no longer means a literal size, and IBM says chips built this way are years off.
