UK records 18.6°C at Kew Gardens, hottest day of 2026 so far
The UK recorded its hottest day of the year on Wednesday, with Kew Gardens reaching a provisional 18.6°C, according to the Met Office. It is the highest February temperature recorded in the country since 19.2°C was logged at Heathrow on February 27 2019. The warm spell has been driven by a brief southerly airflow drawing in warmer, drier air. Temperatures are expected to drop from Thursday, with rain returning across much of the country.
