16 years in power, Orbán faces election defeat

Transparency International has identified Hungary as the EU's most corrupt nation for several years, causing substantial EU financial support to be frozen. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has continuously governed Hungary since 2010, but now faces a significant electoral contest from Péter Magyar on 12 April. Orbán's actions have reshaped Hungary into what the European Parliament calls a "hybrid regime," and many surveys point to his impending loss.
