12 years: The council failure that kept 15 convicted nurses working
Patients were potentially put at risk as nurses and midwives with criminal convictions continued working for 12 years. A deeply concerning and unjustifiable failure concerning the proper assessment of the individuals in question was admitted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. As a result of this mistake, approximately 15 individuals, whose names should have been taken off, stayed on the official register and are now in jeopardy of permanent disqualification.
