1 Million EVs Could Save Australia 1 Billion Litres Fuel
Australia could dramatically lessen its need for foreign fuel, boosting its economic security. This is achievable by swapping one million petrol vehicles for electric ones, a concept supported by experts including Professor Hussein Dia. Such a change would reduce exposure to global oil price shocks and shift energy consumption to largely domestic electricity production, with significant fuel demand reduction per car yearly, estimated by experts to be around 1,150 litres.
