Major Cloudflare Outage Disrupts Global Internet Services Including X and ChatGPT
Internet infrastructure giant Cloudflare experienced a significant outage on Tuesday that brought down major platforms including X, ChatGPT, Spotify and thousands of other websites worldwide. The disruption was caused by an automatically generated configuration file that grew beyond expected size, triggering a crash in Cloudflare's traffic management software. The company, which provides security services for about 20% of all global websites, apologized for the incident and confirmed it was not the result of a cyberattack. Services gradually recovered within hours, though the outage highlighted the internet's heavy reliance on a few key infrastructure providers.
