1 in 4 Sonographer Posts Empty Across England
England faces a severe sonographer shortage, with a 24.2% vacancy rate nationally and 38.2% in the South East, the Society of Radiographers has warned. One in thirteen sonographers plans to retire within a year, risking delays to 12-week and 20-week pregnancy scans and cancer diagnoses, with life-threatening consequences for pregnant women and cancer patients.
