British Defence Secretary Warns Putin After Russian Spy Ship Targets RAF Pilots With Lasers
John Healey, the Defence Secretary, stated a Russian intelligence ship, Yantar, targeted RAF aircrew with lasers. This occurred north of Scotland as they observed the vessel. It is the second time in 2024 the ship has entered UK waters. Royal Navy frigates and RAF P-8 aircraft are tracking the Yantar, which can map undersea cables. Healey called the laser targeting extremely dangerous. He warned Putin that Britain is ready with military responses and has altered naval rules to better monitor Russian activity.
