Birmingham bin strike continues beyond one year
Residents have faced significant disruption and public health concerns from an ongoing refuse service strike. Bin workers, represented by Unite, began their all-out industrial action starting January 2025 over changes to pay and roles. The city council declared a major incident in May last year after 17,000 tonnes of waste accumulated, with talks breaking down last July.
