Von der Leyen warns EU must project power, not just rules.

Ursula von der Leyen said the European Union can no longer depend solely on the international rules-based system to safeguard its interests. Addressing EU ambassadors in Brussels, she stressed the need for the bloc to strengthen its strategic capabilities as global instability grows. Von der Leyen warned that the world has become more confrontational, urging Europe to adapt its institutions and policies to better respond to emerging security and geopolitical challenges.
