Why test AI in space?
Google is sending its AI chips, called Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), into space to see if they can handle the extreme conditions. Space has harsh radiation, strong vibrations during launch, and unique cooling challenges in a vacuum. If the TPUs work well, it opens up new possibilities for AI applications beyond Earth, such as on satellites or future space missions.
