Why target a monastery?

Monasteries in Myanmar are often seen as neutral spaces and places of refuge, but they can also be used by civilians for gatherings, as in this story. Targeting such a location, especially one reportedly hosting a meditation retreat, can be a tactic to instill fear, disrupt community life, or punish perceived support for opposition groups.
