Explained in plain English

Why 0.3%? What's the target?

The UK's long-standing aid target was 0.7% of national income, set by the UN in 1970. It was enshrined in UK law in 2015. However, due to economic pressures from the pandemic, the government temporarily cut it to 0.5% in 2020, then to 0.3% for 2027, as mentioned in the story.
