Why is North Korea helping Russia?

North Korea and Russia have grown closer, especially since Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. Both countries face international sanctions and share a common opposition to Western influence. For North Korea, providing troops and potentially weapons offers a way to strengthen its strategic alliance with Russia, gain economic support, and perhaps receive military technology in return, bolstering its own defence capabilities.
