Why flights cost more

When the price of jet fuel goes up, airlines often pass that extra cost onto you, the passenger. Virgin Atlantic, for example, added a 'fuel surcharge' to tickets because Middle East tensions made oil, and therefore jet fuel, more expensive. This means your holiday or business trip could now be pricier.
