Why are trains delayed?

Train delays, like the two-year hold-up for the new DLR trains, can happen for many reasons. These often include technical issues during manufacturing, unexpected safety concerns requiring recalls, or complex testing and certification processes. Supply chain problems or unforeseen engineering challenges can also contribute, pushing back launch dates for new services.
