Why are tigers important?

Tigers are apex predators, meaning they sit at the top of their food chain. Their presence helps control the populations of herbivores, which in turn prevents overgrazing and maintains healthy plant life. Bringing back the Caspian tiger helps restore the natural balance of the Ile-Balkhash ecosystem, benefiting many other species and the overall health of the environment.
