How do animals return?

Bringing back extinct animals, known as rewilding or de-extinction, involves careful planning. For the Caspian tiger, scientists found its DNA was almost identical to the Amur tiger, allowing a closely related species to fill its ecological niche. This isn't about cloning but reintroducing a similar animal to restore balance to an ecosystem, like the Ile-Balkhash nature reserve in Kazakhstan.
