When was VAR introduced?
VAR was first trialled in football in 2016 and made its major tournament debut at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. Its adoption across leagues like the Scottish Premiership has been gradual, aiming to improve decision accuracy. The system continues to evolve, with UEFA regularly updating its guidance, as mentioned by Bobby Madden.
