When did strikes start?

Strikes have a long history, dating back to ancient Egypt when workers downed tools over pay and conditions. In Britain, organised strikes became more common during the Industrial Revolution as factories grew. The London bus drivers' strike follows this tradition of workers collectively stopping work to demand better conditions, like cooler cabs.
