What's the Assembly of Experts?

The Assembly of Experts is a powerful body of 88 senior clerics in Iran. Their main job is to choose the Supreme Leader, monitor his performance, and even dismiss him if necessary. They are directly elected by the public every eight years, playing a crucial role in the country's unique political system, especially after the death of a Leader like Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
