What's a Champions League 'league phase'?

Football's top European club competition, the Champions League, is changing. From next season, the traditional group stage with four teams will be replaced by a 'league phase'. All 36 competing clubs will be in one big league table, playing eight different opponents. It's a big shake-up, aiming for more exciting matches and greater variety.
