What is the Voyager Golden Record?

The Voyager Golden Record is a phonograph record included on the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft, launched in 1977. It contains sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life that might find them. The Fermi Explorer will carry a copy, continuing this tradition of cosmic communication.
