What is primogeniture?

Primogeniture is a system where inheritance, especially of a title or property, passes to the firstborn child. Historically, it often favoured males, known as male primogeniture. Liechtenstein's change to absolute primogeniture means the eldest child, regardless of gender, now inherits, reflecting a modern shift in succession laws.
