What is 'predictive modelling'?

Predictive modelling uses data to forecast future events. In this study, researchers gathered daily emotional data from hundreds of high-risk individuals. By analysing patterns in this data, they built a model capable of predicting suicide attempts and related events a week in advance, a significant improvement on traditional, less immediate methods.
