What is orbital velocity?

Orbital velocity is the speed an object needs to travel to stay in orbit around another, like the Swift telescope around Earth. It's a delicate balance: too slow and it falls, too fast and it escapes. Swift's decreasing altitude means it's losing some of this crucial speed, making it vulnerable to atmospheric drag.
