What is net metering?

Net metering lets solar panel owners sell excess electricity they generate back to the main grid. When your panels produce more power than you use, the surplus goes to the grid, and you get credits on your electricity bill. This system isn't really an option for Sudanese families turning to solar, as their grid is too damaged to reliably buy back power.
