What is denuclearisation?

Denuclearisation means getting rid of nuclear weapons. The US wants North Korea to give up its nuclear arsenal, believing it's a threat to global stability. However, North Korea sees its nuclear weapons as essential for its own protection and sovereignty, especially given America's military presence in the region and its 'hostile policy'.
