What is a typhoon?

Typhoons are powerful tropical storms that form over the western Pacific Ocean. They're essentially the same phenomenon as hurricanes, just in a different part of the world. Typhoon Dolphin, approaching Japan, brings strong winds and heavy rain, causing widespread disruption and necessitating evacuations, especially in areas already vulnerable from recent natural disasters.
