What is a positive-sum game?

A positive-sum game is where everyone involved can gain something, making the overall outcome better for all. Unlike a zero-sum game where one's gain is another's loss, positive-sum thinking encourages cooperation. NATO, for example, aims for collective security where all members benefit from mutual defence, rather than individual nations competing for resources.
