What is a 'central defender'?

A central defender, often called a centre-back, is a key defensive player positioned in the middle of the pitch, directly in front of their own goal. Their main roles are to stop opposing attackers from scoring, clear the ball, and distribute it to midfielders. Huijsen, Konate, and Rudiger all play this crucial position.
