What are third-degree burns?

Third-degree burns, like those Travis Barker suffered, are the most severe type, damaging all layers of the skin and often underlying tissue. They destroy nerve endings, so initially, they might not be painful. Recovery is complex, often requiring extensive medical intervention such as skin grafts, where healthy skin is taken from another part of the body to cover the burned area.
