What are enzymes?

Enzymes are like tiny biological helpers in your body, speeding up chemical reactions without being used up themselves. In this story, glucokinase is an enzyme that helps your liver take up sugar. When glucagon levels are high, the amount of glucokinase decreases, making it harder for your liver to do its job of storing blood sugar effectively.
