Explained in plain English
What are airport curfews?
Many airports, like the one in Victoria, have night-time curfews, meaning runways close for take-offs and landings during certain hours. This is often to reduce noise pollution for nearby residents. Flights delayed past these times, as the Porter Airlines flight was, cannot depart until the curfew lifts, typically the next morning, causing significant disruption for passengers.
