How do rescue baskets work?

Rescue baskets, also known as aerial rescue platforms or baskets, are attached to the end of a fire engine's extendable ladder. They provide a safe platform for firefighters to reach people trapped in high places, like the woman on the 11th floor balcony in Berlin. They can also be used to transport equipment or evacuate multiple people at once.
