Explained in plain English

How do habits actually form?

Habits are formed through a process called 'habit loop', involving a cue, a routine, and a reward. When you consistently repeat a behaviour in response to a cue and receive a reward, your brain creates a shortcut, making the action automatic. The South Australia research suggests this process takes much longer than previously thought.
