Explained in plain English

Can Trump declare a ceasefire?

Donald Trump, as a former US president, does not have the authority to unilaterally declare a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Ceasefires are agreements made between the warring parties themselves. While he can propose or mediate, any such deal would require the direct consent and negotiation of both Moscow and Kyiv to be effective.
