Can dogs feel empathy?

While the study shows dogs can recognise human emotions, it doesn't definitively prove they feel empathy in the human sense. Recognising a happy face is different from truly understanding and sharing our joy or sorrow. However, their ability to interpret our expressions is a key step towards a deeper connection.
