Wildfires force 12,000 evacuations in France, one firefighter dies in Italy
Ongoing wildfires in southwestern France have led to the evacuation of approximately 12,000 individuals, among them 10,000 tourists. More than 2,000 hectares of land have been destroyed in France's Gironde region, where two firefighters also died earlier this week. Meanwhile, an Italian firefighter died on Wednesday while tackling a wildfire in San Cataldo, Sicily, where over 350 fires have been reported.
