Why the EU wants to ban social media under 13

Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Commission, announced a draft law on Wednesday to prohibit social media access for children under 13. Under the proposed rules, youngsters aged 13 to 15 would be permitted restricted accounts under parental supervision. The plan still requires approval from the European parliament and the 27 EU member states to become law.
