Why PlayStation will stop making disc games in 2028
Sony is ending physical game production because digital sales now dominate the market, cutting manufacturing and distribution costs. The company also wants to clear the way for a disc-free PlayStation 6 console, which would be cheaper to produce. However, this move means PlayStation owners will lose choice, unable to buy cheaper games in sales or share them with friends.
