Why heatwaves mean worse air for lungs.

Decades of progress in managing air quality are being undone by more frequent wildfires and heatwaves, posing a big risk to health. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) announced today that the global incidence of extreme fire-smoke events has trebled since the 1990s. The trend is making it harder to meet World Health Organization air quality guidelines, with ground-level ozone pollution also rising.
