Why army training cuts hurt combat readiness

Andy Burnham temporarily stopped vital tank and live-fire exercises for troops earlier this month to keep costs down. Lt Gen Benoît Desmeulles, who leads a European Nato force, told a Prague summit that halting practice damages the country's combat readiness.
